St Martin's CofE Primary & Nursery School

A village school in the heart of the city

Trips, Workshops & Residentials

We regularly take Class trips to places of educational interest to enrich the learning being done in class. We take local trips in Brighton and the local area which is free and invaluable when carrying out our history and geography studies. We have taken our school council to the Houses of Parliament, our reception class to visit the I360, along with a variety of other trips to places near and far.

Through local and national education services, we also offer whole school or individual, age appropriate class workshops to enhance our curriculum offer led by specialists in their field. These have included: First aid workshops, Bikeabilty and Pedestrian Crossing sessions, Ukulele music  sessions, World Book Week etc.

The school needs to ask for a contribution towards costs for day trips and workshops. No child would be refused a place if a contribution was not offered, although we may have to cancel a trip if we do not receive sufficient contributions.

This academic year, Year 4 children went away on a residential visit to Blackland Farm Outdoor Centre in East Grinstead for 2 days, completing lots of wet and dry outdoor adventure activities. During the summer term KS2 will be going by train to Portsmouth Historical Dockyard for the day.  School arranges payment plans for families to pay in instalments for these residential visits. If parents have trouble meeting these payment arrangements we encourage them to speak in confidence with our our headteacher Mrs Joshi,  at the earliest opportunity.
