St Martin's CofE Primary & Nursery School

A village school in the heart of the city

Admissions

Admission enquiries are welcome for children aged 5 -11yrs for our main school, please contact us on 01273 707114 for details of places available for this current year. Transfers within a school year normally take two weeks to arrange and places are allocated immediately if they are available. If you are moving house and the house move does not tie in with this timescale you will be able to start school in the middle of the term if a place is available. You must complete and submit an In-Year Application Form.  Follow the link from the Brighton & Hove City Council website.

In the event that we receive more applications than there are places available, the order of priority for admission will be established using the appropriate Admission Criteria for that academic year and places awarded accordingly by the Admissions Committee of the Governing Body.

The deadline for receipt of applications, including any Supplementary Information Forms, for entry to Reception in September 2025  will be 15th January 2025, (23.59 hours). Admissions will open in October 2024 and all details will be on the Brighton and Hove Local Authority website. You should apply online via the Local Authority at  http://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/content/children-and-education/school-admissions

The Supplementary Information Form, if required, should be sent directly to the school (not to the Local Authority) addressed to the Clerk of Governors and must be received by the same deadline of 15th January 2025.

NURSERY

We also currently have places in our Nursery which offers 15 and 30 hours free state-funded care in a structured learning environment for ages 3-4yrs.

Should we have availability, we can offer an extra Wednesday morning or afternoon session at a cost of £16.50 (per session).  This can be accommodated with the proviso that parents/carers need to reapply for additional sessions termly due to availability.

Should the Nursery be oversubscribed then the Admissions Criteria currently in place for the main school will be applied to Nursery applications. It is important to note that entry into St Martin’s Nursery does not automatically guarantee a place in the main school when the child reaches statutory school age, you must apply for a Primary School place via the Local Authority.

Visits are always welcome by arrangement, please telephone the school on 01273 707114 to make an appointment.
